Private, for-profit providers can supplement government programs by offering a broader range of services to those who can afford to pay for them. By increasing policymakers' awareness of the real social and economic gains emanating from improvements in women's health, foreign assistance agenciesincluding the World Bankan have an impact far beyond their monetary contribution.
